Okay, so this is going to sound like an advert, but it’s a neat idea so I thought i’d blog about it. Cahoot have a facility for their customers to automatically generate a unique set of single-use credit card details associated to you.
It’s called the Webcard and the idea is that everytime you want to use your credit card online instead of providing your actual details, you login to the Webcard application, provide a maximum credit limit for the transaction, and it gives you a number, start, expiry date and CV2 number. This will be charged to your account but if the retailer attempts to charge more, or use the card again, it will fail.
Great security idea and amazingly they’ve had it since 2001. Fingers crossed the card details in the application are being securely transmitted with Cahoot.
